Family caregiver support, health promotion & ombudsman work — NC AAA network
Spent five years embedded in North Carolina's Area Agency on Aging network serving in multiple roles — family caregiver support specialist, health promotion coordinator, and ombudsman. Built deep relationships across the state's aging services infrastructure and developed firsthand fluency in Title III programming, NAPIS reporting, and what small nonprofits actually need to survive.
Led ACL Fall Prevention grant application — awarded and launched
Led the full application process for a competitive Administration for Community Living (ACL) Fall Prevention grant. Secured the award and moved directly into managing implementation — a full cycle from blank page to funded program.
ACL Falls Prevention & CDC Arthritis Grant — UNC-affiliated universities
Managed multiple concurrent federal grants across ACL and CDC programs in partnership with UNC-affiliated universities. Responsibilities spanned the full grant lifecycle — planning, implementation, evaluation, compliance, and federal reporting. Over $500K in federal funding secured and managed across this period.
Policy briefs, flyers & advocacy materials — Burke Democratic Women
Designing and writing event materials, policy one-pagers, and advocacy documents for the Burke County Democratic Women's organization. The work has circulated widely enough that community members regularly ask where they can find more — which is exactly why this page exists.
Founded Collabor8tive Consulting LLC
Launched a women-owned public health consulting firm focused on small nonprofits across North Carolina — bringing grant writing, strategic planning, health communications, and program design under one roof. Built on eight years of on-the-ground public health experience, not theory.
Collabor8tive Collective — now in development
Building a membership model for small NC nonprofits — shared grant research, group strategy sessions, peer learning, and coalition funding opportunities. Designed so that organizations doing the most important work aren't doing it alone.
